DRCs lauded for helping police to resolve petty issues.

MANSEHRA -- Hazara division police chief Qazi Jamilur Rehman has said the dispute resolution councils (DRCs) have helped reduce burden on the police byresolving the petty issues among the people.

'The DRC is a platform where minor issues are settled with the consent of both the parties in the shortest possible time,' he told the participants of the inaugural meeting of the newly-established council in Shinkiari here on Sunday.

Mr Rehman said decisions taken by the DRCs were backed by the police department.

'An applicant gets his issue settled without spending even a single penny at the forum of DRC, and this is why the police have been encouraging people to approach such bodies for settlement of civil and criminal cases,' said Mr Rehman.

INCREASE IN SALARY SOUGHT: The local chapter of All Pakistan Clerks Association has threatened street agitation if the government fails to announce increase in employees' salaries in accordance with the prevailing price hike.

'The government employees have been facing challenges because of price hike and couldn't even manage household expenditures,' Sajjad Ahmad Khan, the association's president, told reporters in Balakot on Sunday.
