Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad orders stern action against water thieves.

HYDERABAD -- The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon chairing a meeting at Shahbaz Hall regarding the prevailing water shortage and in this regard, has directed the Division's Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, Rangers and Irrigation Department officers of the division to take stern action against those elements involved in water theft. He said that instead of lodging FIRs against farmers on water theft charges, FIRs should be registered against landowners.

He said that water theft is a very serious crime and no one would be allowed to deprive people from their right to have water. He directed for immediate deployment of Police and Rangers personnel to monitor the canals and water courses in Naseer Division and Halla Division within the Hyderabad limits of Kotri Barrage's Land Channel Akram Wah and Old Pahli Sukkur Barrage and directed them to stop water theft.
