DCs ordered to check price hike.

LAHORE -- Chief Secretary Azam Suleman on Thursday directed all deputy commissioners to implement the government's instructions regarding controlling prices of eatables, action against adulteration, Clean and Green Pakistan Campaign and utilisation of funds on schemes under the Annual Development Programme (ADP).

All these tasks would be a yardstick to determine the DC's performance and no negligence would be tolerated, he said while presiding over a meeting here. All divisional commissioners and DCs attended the meeting through video-link.

The chief secretary said model bazaars could be made beneficial only by ensuring availability of eatables at concessionary rates. Availability of daily-use items should be ensured at the officially fixed prices so that people could be provided relief from artificial price hike, he said.

He told the officers they should not show any leniency to those found involved in adulteration and hoarding.

He ordered the DCs to regularly visit hospitals to check availability of medicines and behaviour of doctors and staff with patients, besides taking measures for improving cleanliness at these premises. Another direction was about monitoring of flour and sugar mills to ensure grinding of wheat as per official quota.
