DC launches probe into sewerage, drainage projects.

SHEIKHUPURA -- Deputy Commission Tariq Mahmood Bukhari on Sunday took serious notice of the deteriorated condition of the sewerage and drainage system in the city and launched an inquiry into the related projects.

Various parts of the city had submerged in the rainwater in the recent heavy rains which caused great inconvenience for the citizens.

The DC took notice following a complaint of Shazia Sadiq advocate who, in her application submitted to him, stated that an amount of Rs400m had been spent on the construction of sewerage and drainage system in the city some two years back. She alleged that substandard material was used in mega projects with the alleged connivance of the tehsil municipal administration (TMA) officials due to which the system collapsed.
