Court summons DC, SSP.

ISLAMABAD -- Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah on Wednesday summoned the deputy commissioner and senior superintendent of police (SSP) Islamabad on a petition filed against the confiscation of shipping containers used to seal off roads in the capital ahead of the Azadi March.

The petitioner, a goods transport company, has filed a petition. The petition said they are in the business of importing and distributing perishable items such as fruits and vegetables.

It said the company imports these items from China to Pakistan through the Karachi dry port but the way local police and administration officials were offloading shipping containers to seal off roads is detrimental to their lawful business.

It said: 'Police pickets which are meant to providing security have started acting otherwise, the local police used to stop the containers on road for hours without any justification, which results into damage/harm to the fruits/vegetables and is causing grave loss to the petitioner.
