Couple, teenage daughter murdered in Baghbanpura.

LAHORE -- Three members of a family, including a teenage girl, were allegedly found murdered at their home in Baghbanpura on Monday morning.

The victims were identified as Razia (34), her husband Waqas (30) and daughter from her previous marriage, Mustafira (15).

The couple was shot in the chest while the girl in the head and they were killed late on Sunday when other members of the family were not present there, a police official said.

The other family members, including a brother of Waqas, his wife and four children, had gone to see their relatives on Sunday. As they came back home on Monday morning, they found the bodies of all the three victims with gunshot wounds and alerted the police.

Cantonment SP Furqan Bilal told Dawn the victims were shot dead probably when they were asleep.

He said Razia had contracted second marriage with Waqas some four years back after separation from her first husband. She was working in a local factory where Waqas was also an employee and after their marriage both were living in Ahmad Town, Baghbanpura along with family of Waqas's brother.

The SP said Razia's family suspected that she might have been murdered by the family of her former husband. On the request of her parents, he added, the police questioned her first husband who was a labourer by profession. He said the police also questioned some family members of Waqas as Razia had lodged complaints against his brothers following some domestic disputes,

SP Bilal said the police had not reached any conclusion yet but believed that Razia, her daughter and husband were murdered over family disputes. It was yet to be established whether the alleged killers were from her current in-laws or from the family of her former husband, he added.

The bodies have been shifted to the morgue for autopsy and a case would be registered when a written complaint would be received, the SP Cantt said.
