Coronavirus death toll reaches 4,762 in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD -- A total of 3,344 new cases surfaced during the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 231,818, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday.

The death toll from the virus has reached 4,762 with 50 more deaths reported over the aforementioned period. Out of these 50 deaths, 44 people died in various hospitals while six died out of hospital. A total of 22,271 coronavirus tests were carried out during the last 24 hours.

S0 far, 131,649 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease across the country. The number of total active cases stands at 95,407.

The total 231,818 reported cases include 81,963 in Punjab, 94,528 in Sindh, 28,116 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 10,814 in Balochistan, 13,494 in Islamabad, 1,561 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 1,342 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In Sindh, coronavirus claimed 46 more lives and infected 1,708 in the past 24 hours.

In a statement issued from CM House on Monday, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that 46 more patients lost their lives while battling against the coronavirus, lifting the death toll to 1,572.

He said that 1,708 new cases emerged when 12,479 samples were tested. He added that so far 514,905 samples have been tested against which 96,236 cases have been detected. He added that the overall detection rate came around to 19 per cent.

CM Murad said that 679 persons recovered after contracting to coronavirus in 24 hours, lifting the provincial tally of recoveries to 53,855.
