Commodities: Dull trading on cotton market.

Motivated by falling cotton prices, many small textile spinners rushed to replenish their stocks on Thursday. However, the market undertone remained weak and outlook, uncertain.

Trading resumed on an easy note but towards the closing stages, some buying emerged at lower level owing to falling cotton prices. The official spot rate was also revised downward by Rs100 per maund.

There was common perception among traders that due to sluggish demand for yarn, the performance of cotton market is depressing.

The world cotton yarn market was also not creating much demand, the brokers said.

Meanwhile, leading spinners being focused on importing cotton has further depressed domestic cotton's demand, they added.

The phutti (seed-cotton) arrivals from fields into ginneries is also slowing down every day, indicating there is little unpicked cotton is left in the fields.
