The martyrs included one Shakil Ahmad whose relatives later founded Shakil Shaheed Development Organisation (SSDO), a welfare organisation that works for children of the martyrs in the district.

A function was arranged by SSDO at the police lines to mark the day. Social activists and police officials attended the function. A contingent of police officials presented a salute to the martyrs.

SSDO chief Imtiaz Ahmad and other activists laid floral wreaths on the martyrs' monument. Later, a walk was also held that was led by SP investigation Mushtaq Ahmad. The participants were carrying placards inscribed with slogans for peace and harmony.
