Cleanliness of hospitals to be outsourced to private firms.

PESHAWAR -- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai has said that contracts with private organisations will be inked for effective cleanliness of public sector hospitals.

He said that postings and transfers of the health employees would be made once every year as part of the plan to ensure patients' care.

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, the minister said that according to the policy, postings and transfers of the employees of health department would be made once a year while leaves of doctors for trainings etc would be decided twice per year to improve performance indicators.

Except the posts of Class-IV, all other positions including technical and non-technical would be filled through tests and interviews to ensure merit, he said.

The minister said that they had decided to enter into partnership with private organisations to improve cleanliness at hospitals. The mechanism would be adopted in two districts on experimental basis that could be replicated to other districts because the hospitals should remain clean.

'In future, all instructions with regard to postings and transfers and other matters will be shared on the website of the department. Health department has been completely interlinked with other districts for sake of transparency in provision of healthcare facilities to the people,' he said.

Mr Tarakai said that he was again assigned the health department by Prime Minister Imran Khan and he picked up an honest team to utilise the government's infrastructure for providing better health services to people at public sector hospitals.
