Civil society protests child abuse cases.

PESHAWAR -- Representatives of various civil society organisations (CSOs) on Sunday demonstrated outside the Peshawar Press Club against the growing incidents of violence against children and urged the government to ensure proper implementation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Act, 2010, to award exemplary punishment to the child abusers.

Holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the abuse and murder of children, the protesters demanded public hanging of the people involved in the heinous crimes.

Talking to mediapersons on the occasion, representatives of the protesters, including Tufail Mohammad, Shehzad Ahmed and others, said the successive governments failed to implement the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Act, 2010.

They said the concerned police provided protection to the child abusers due to insufficient investigation.
