Citizens asked to act proactively to combat crimes.

KARACHI -- Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for Law, on Thursday called upon citizens to proactively contribute to stopping crimes in the society and brining real change in the country. He was speaking at a Provincial Consultative Conference under strengthening citizens' access to justice organized by Sindh Agricultural and Forestry Workers Coordinating Organization (SAFWCO) at a local hotel here. He pointed out that people complain about law and order but when they reach the traffic signals they break the signals and violate traffic rules ruthlessly. Similarly, people don't give importance to the environment protection. It is said 'Justice delayed is justice denied", so the judiciary should play its role in provision of timely justice to the masses.

He said people should be encouraged to report crimes happening around them so that the police and judiciary could take action as per the law. He said some vested interest elements were trying to divide the society on vital issues like rights of children, women, minorities and other vulnerable segments of the society.
