China Committed To Develop CPEC Projects, Expand Economic Coop.

ISLAMABAD -- Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail on Thursday said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would play an important role in taking Pakistan's economy forward as well as cementing the bilateral relationship between both the countries.

Ms Pangchunxue, Charge de Affaires of the Embassy of People's Republic of China, called on Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail at the Finance Division. Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Dr Aisha Ghaus Pasha was also present in the meeting. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail extended warm welcome to the guest and highlighted deep-rooted friendship and brotherly relations between Pakistan and China. The Chinese Charge de Affaires assured full support and cooperation of Chinese government and said that China is committed to develop the CPEC projects under the vision of d prosperity and it will further strengthen and expand economic cooperation between both the countries. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and Ms. Pangchunxue expressed their plan for further enhancing the bilateral cooperation in various fields. In his concluding remarks, the finance minister affirmed full support and cooperation to Chinese investors and businessmen.

Meeting on tax related issues of IT and Telecom sector

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue also presided over a meeting on the tax related issues of IT and telecom sector at Finance Division. Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin-ul-Haq, Secretary IT and Telecom, Chairman PTA, Chairman FBR and other senior officers attended the meeting.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin-ul-Haq apprised the finance minister on the contribution of IT and telecom sectors in the economic progress of the country and informed that currently IT and telecommunication sector is facing various issues related to taxation and requested for exemption/reduction in various taxes for ease of doing business for IT sector and survival of telecom sector in Pakistan.
