Chicken vendor held for 'attacking' PFA team.

BAHAWALPUR -- Yazman City police claimed to have arrested on Tuesday a chicken vendor for allegedly attacking two officials of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on railway road.

On Monday, Asif Butt had allegedly attacked PFA veterinarian Dr Adeel and driver Javed Akhtar with bricks, iron rod and dagger when they visited his shop for inspection. Butt was allegedly selling unhygienic chicken, and was fined Rs2,000.

Upon being fined, Asif got enraged and attacked the authority officials, who were seriously injured and later hospitalised at Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Butt also damaged the official vehicles with bricks.

SUGAR SALE: A large number of people thronged the sugar sales points set up in the city and other locations to purchase the commodity at Rs70 per kilogramme.

The sales points were set up by Ashraf Sugar Mills in pursuance of the Islamabad High Court orders with the coordination of the district administration.
