Centre accused of neglecting rehabilitation of Orakzai people.

KOHAT -- Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Ghazan Jamal from Orakzai district has urged tribesmen to stage protests in Islamabad to highlight their predicament caused by the government's alleged failure to adequately compensate them for their destroyed shops and houses.

Talking to Dawn here on Sunday, he expressed concern over what he said the central government had neglected the sacrifices made by the tribesmen during the fight against militancy.

He also resented exclusion of bazaars destroyed during the operations against militancy in the reconstruction efforts.

He said tribesmen were expelled from their areas in 2008, and they returned to their homes in 2019 when claims were made that normalcy had returned to the region, but had to return back after founding their residences and bazaars destroyed.

MPA Ghazan Jamal regretted that only Rs400,000 was announced for the destroyed houses and Rs170,000 for the partially damaged houses.

He said so far 17,000 households had been given compensation out of 25,000, adding the Rs250 million grant to this effect was negligible.
