ISLAMABAD -- Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan on Friday directed the civic agency to purchase its own tree transplant machine.

Speaking to Dawn after visiting the under construction G-7 and G-8 underpass project he said that pine trees and other large trees were being transplanted by CDA from a machine which was brought from Parks and Horticulture Authority, Lahore. He said it was nice to see that trees were being preserved but CDA should also have its own transplant machine.

The CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed also accompanied the special assistant.

He asked the civic agency to ensure that trees are not chopped off for construction work in the future.

'CDA should have its own transplant machine to use in its upcoming projects,' he said adding that the contractor of the underpass project has been directed to complete the project as soon as possible.

'We are hopeful, this project will be completed in two months,' he said adding that talks were also underway with Ministry of Climate Change for expansion of Attaturk Avenue.

The CDA chairman Amer Ali Ahmed said it must also be ensured that the general public did not face difficulties due to construction activities of the project.
