Businessmen demand export development centre.

PESHAWAR -- The business community has demanded of the government to establish a modern, well-equipped export development centre in Peshawar to increase the capacity of exporters and importers and address their issues and thus, helping improve economy.

The demand was made during a meeting at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Wednesday. The participants discussed issues regarding exports and imports and suggested ways to address them.

SCCI president Maqsood Anwar Pervaiz said the government had yet to accept the demands of the business community regarding the enhancement of capacity of the people working in different business sectors.

He said a well-equipped export development centre should be established in the provincial capital to build the capacity of exporters.

'It is the need of the hour to build the capacity of traders attached with export-oriented sectors,' he said.

The SCCI president said the chamber had made efforts to set up a state-of-the-art export development centre to resolve the exporters' issues under one-window operation service but the government's support was required for it.
