Building Academic Linkages within BRI Countries.

The Friends of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Forum, a project of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, conducted a Webinar on Building Academic Linkages within BRI Countries, featuring eminent speakers from around the world. Friends of BRI is a conversational or a dialog forum. Academics believe that strong academic, research and innovation ties should exist between higher education institutions in BRI countries. They also believe that by fostering strong academic ties, we may further BRI's overarching goal and objective in its purest form.

Ms. Farhat Asif, Founder President, IPDS welcomed the viewers. She has highlighted the reasons for having such an important topic while moderating the discussion. The need of forming the forum was stressed by Mr. Asif Noor, Founder Friends of the BRI Forum. Dr. Wang Li, Professor of Security and Diplomacy at Jilin University's School of International and Public Affairs, said that peace and stability in the region and beyond may be restored and built by closer collaboration between China, Russia, Pakistan, and Iran.

This can also help to enhance socio-economic collaboration at a global level. According to Dr. Manzoor Soomro, Vice President of the Belt and Road International Science Education Coordinating Committee, robust academic and research links on science and technological growth are needed from China to BRI countries and vice versa.

China and the EU can cooperate to create strong links in all fields according to Dr. George N. Tzogopoulos. With this, he emphasized that BRI is an important interaction model a global arena.
