Body to finalise new transport fares.

PESHAWAR -- Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud here on Friday constituted a committee under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner, Peshawar, to finalise new transport fares within 72 hours.

He also issued directives to the district administration, Transport Department and traffic police to take strict against those overcharging passengers.

The commissioner took these steps in view of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan's directives for taking measures to control transport fares after ban on the gas supply to CNG stations.

Mr Mehsud also held a meeting with the officials of transport department and traffic police and representatives of the Public Transport Association here on Friday.

According to a press release issued here, the Public Transport Association agreed during the meeting on charging the old fares.
