Bird smugglers, poachers held in Lakki raids.

LAKKI MARWAT -- A team of DI Khan wildlife division arrested 11 persons, including five poachers and six birds' smugglers, and seized 15 red-legged partridges during raids in Chunda and Yarak localities near Darra Pezu town here on Sunday.

The action was initiated on the orders of divisional forest officer Khan Malook Khan who had information about illegal hunting of birds in the rural areas of Lakki, said an official.

The arrested men were engaged in illegal poaching of doves with guns, the official said, adding a case was registered against the poachers.

Separately, the official said the same party arrested six birds' traffickers and seized 15 red-legged partridges from them at Khargai checking point.

He said the birds were being smuggled to Tank from Jandola area of the tribal subdivision.

The wildlife department recovered compensation money of Rs50,000 from the birds' carriers and also registered a case against them, he added.

OUTLAW KILLED: A proclaimed offender was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Burghu Adamzai village on Sunday.

A Tajori police party was sent to the area early morning on information about presence of outlaw, Rehmatullah there, said an official. He said the personnel came under attack when they started laying siege to the hideout of the criminal.
