Bid to smuggle face masks foiled at IIA.

RAWALPINDI -- Customs authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle thousands of face masks to Bangkok and Qatar at Islamabad International Airport (IIA) on Friday, amid global coronavirus outbreak.

According to customs authorities, the masks were seized while scanning of baggage was underway for passengers of Qatar and Thai Airways flights.

Customs authorities recovered masks weighing 700 kilograms that had been stuffed in six suitcases from three passengers travelling to Doha and Bangkok.

All three passengers were allowed to travel without the suitcases filled with masks.
