Basic sciences faculty.

THE debate regarding Basic Sciences faculty in Pakistani medical colleges has gone on for a long time. The Aga Khan University Medical College was the first institution in Pakistan to recruit individuals with a PhD in anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and pharmacology. This step was taken way back in 1982/1983 by the founding Dean of AKU Medical College, Professor Cheves Smythe. He had the vision to take this revolutionary step and time has proved that he was absolutely right.
