Barh area residents oppose Tanda Dam's extension.

KOHAT -- The elders of Barh area of Kohat have rejected the extension of the Tanda dam, saying it would consume their graveyard, houses and agriculture land spreading over 250 acres.

Speaking at a protest on Monday, former nazim Qismat Gul, former naib nazim Asghar Khan, president of PTI's youth wing for Banda Jaat, Irshad Bangash and others said they had sacrificed their agriculture land in 1962 for the dam's construction, but not a single job was given to the locals. They alleged that even now in the extension project state minister Sheharyar Afridi was giving jobs to people from other districts.

They warned that if the Barh area was not excluded from the dam's extension project they would forcibly stop work on it. They appealed to the chief minister to take notice.

TAX REJECTED: The small traders association has rejected the professional tax and issuance of notices to them by the excise and taxation department.

The association's district president Mansoor Bangash and president of traders' body of University Road and Cantonment, Abdul Shakoor said the tax was viable on professional services whereas they were shopkeepers...
