Ban on reassembled cars protested.

SWAT -- Owners of the reassembled vehicles demonstrated against the district administration here on Thursday for banning the use of their vehicles.

The protesters gathered outside the Swat Press Club and shouted slogans against the ban.

They urged the district administration to stop seizing reassembled scrapped vehicles and withdraw ban on them.

The protesters said mostly poor people had bought such vehicles, mostly pickup vans and loaders, at low rates to earn a livelihood.

They declared the ban and crackdown on reassembled scrapped vehicles 'sudden'.

'When we put our vehicle on the road, the police stop us and not only seize it but also impose heavy fines on us.

'All this is an injustice to us. We are poor people and the district administration is committing our financial murder by cracking down on our means of living,' he said.
