Bajaur elders hail alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

KHAR -- Elders of Tharkani and Utmankhel tribes on Sunday welcomed the proposed introduction of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism in the merged districts and called for its swift implementation.

Speaking at a meeting here, the participants, who were mostly the supporters of now defunct Frontier Crimes Regulation and opponents of the Fata's merger into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were briefed by the officials about the significance of the proposed ADR in the tribal districts.

They were told that the provincial government in line with the directives of the federal government planned to introduce the ADR in the merged districts in order to settle their disputes through the traditional jirga system.

The participants, most of whom had remained part of the then agency administration-controlled jirga system in the FCR era, welcomed the proposed ADR mechanism.
