Baby Care Service Law Approved

The Baby Care Service Law, introduced by female parliamentarians, has been approved by Parliament and will become effective on January 1, 2016.

Out of 230,000 kindergarten-age children in Mongolia, 80,000 can't attend kindergartens.

"When this law is adopted, kids who couldn't attend kindergartens and stayed at home will get their kindergarten education, and their parents can work without any problems. Many jobs will be created too," said the initiators of the law.

Most of the 80,000 children who do not attend kindergartens reside in ger districts. Schools and kindergartens in the suburbs are insufficient, and new buildings can't be built due to the lack of infrastructure, according to the female parliamentarians.

"Those kids can now attend kindergartens," they emphasized.

According to the law, a teacher can be assigned to five children. The teacher will get a certificate after completing a 14-30 day course. The teacher will be taught about food hygiene, communications with children, and other classes revolving around children.

The criteria for teachers is, "18-65 years of age Mongolian citizen, who is healthy, and has communicational skills. The policy for the courses must be made by the Ministry of Population Development and Social Protection (MPDSP). The permission to babysit for...
