B.uizenmaa: I Aimed to Change People's Old-fashioned Thoughts About Women Through Film

The following is a translated interview by gogo.mn with Mongolian director B.Uizenmaa, who won the Best New Director award for her film "Schau mich nicht so an" (Don't look at me that way) at the 37th Bavarian Film Awards.

B.Uizenmaa currently lives and works in Germany, and has caused quite the sensation with her award winning film.

How long have you lived in Germany?

My family has been living here for a long time. I studied in kindergarten, high school and university in Germany. Germany is my second home country.

But I go to Mongolia every summer with my family. I like to tour around the Mongolian countryside.

When was the last time you visited Mongolia?

Some scenes of "Schau mich nicht so an" were shot in ger areas of Mongolia in 2014. Shooting took three days. That was the last time I visited Mongolia.

We heard that your film is about the inner heart of women. What did you want to express through the film?

The film is about women's behavior and gender equality.I aimed to change people's old-fashioned thoughts about women through the film.

When will the film be screened in Mongolia?

I want to show it to Mongolians. But I have problems, such as sponsor. I will screen it in...
