B.Tech, diploma engineers demand service structure.

ISLAMABAD -- B.Tech and diploma engineers on Monday protested outside the Higher Education Commission (HEC) building to press the regulatory body to finalise their service structure.

Besides service structure, representatives of the B.Tech and Diploma Engineer Association demanded sending the draft Act of National Technology Council (NTS) to the Education Ministry for further action.

The protesters said that Pakistani universities have been offering four-year technology degree, and every year thousands of students passed out, but their future was bleak.

They said that the HEC had been sitting on the proposed act of NTS was lying pending with for the last four years, and was not sending it to the Education Ministry for legislation.

They said that in the absence of the any legal cover, service structure of technologists could not be finalised, adding that because of this incomplete service structure, the technologists could not get jobs and they are becoming overage.

They demanded that B.Sc technology and BTech honour should be given equal...
