PRESIDENT Dr Arif Alvi has asked the auditor general to incorporate modern technology and techniques into the auditing and accounting process to ensure transparency and improve efficiency.

He is of the view that the menace of corruption can be eliminated if effective measures are taken on complaints and to rectify irregularities pointed out in audit reports.

The office of auditor general was established after independence to point out financial and administrative irregularities. It has hundreds of regional offices and thousands of officials who carry out the annual audit of every ministry, government and autonomous organisation.
