Arms, ammunition seized during snap checking.

RAWALPINDI -- The police seized a large quantity of arms and ammunition and arrested two people on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said that arms and ammunition were seized during the snap checking of vehicles introduced as part of the security arrangements for the upcoming cricket match between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The car was stopped in the limits of the old airport and police recovered 10 12-bore rifles, seven 44-bore rifles, two MP-5 rifles, 53 magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition from the boot of the car. The person driving the car was also arrested.

A source close to the investigation said that an alleged facilitator was also arrested whose identity has been withheld. More arrests are expected after an investigation is launched.
