ANP asked to take expelled leaders back into party fold.

SWABI -- The Awami National Party's indecision on whether or not to accept two key leaders back into the party fold has caused uneasiness in its Swabi chapter, insiders told Dawn on Monday on condition of anonymity.

The ANP's leadership had expelled former provincial minister, Senator Sitara Ayaz, and terminated the basic membership of former district general secretary Mohammad Islam on the directives of the district president for harming the party.

Likewise, the party had also issued show-cause notices to Engr Amjid Khan and Ghulam Hassan, former election candidates; Gul Wali Khan and Hidayat Khan, tehsil Swabi president and general secretary; Pir Mohammad and Faisal Zaman, tehsil Topi president and general secretary, respectively.

Reacting to the issuance of show-cause notices to them and expulsion of Ms Ayaz, these leaders did not attend any gathering of Aimal Wali Khan, ANP provincial president, when he visited the district in October.

After Aimal Wali's visit, Mr Islam's basic membership was terminated, and various leaders had said the expulsion of the leaders having been issued show-cause notices was also on the cards.
