Alleged child rapist held in Surjani.

KARACHI -- The Surjani police on Friday claimed to have arrested a suspect for allegedly subjecting a minor boy to criminal assault.

The police said that a 10-year-old boy had come out from his home in Surjani Town on Thursday to play when the suspect allegedly raped him. He also threatened the boy of dire consequences if he told his family.

When the boy came home, he informed the family that the suspect kidnapped and took him to a ground where he raped him.

The police registered a case against him on the complaint of the boy's father. 'The police took immediate action after lodging of an FIR and arrested the suspect,' said West SSP Suhai Aziz.

'Gangster who demanded Rs5m from builder held'

The Napier police on Friday claimed to have arrested an alleged gangster who had demanded Rs5 million bhatta (protection money) from a builder.

The police along with personnel of intelligence agencies conducted an action on Faqir Mohammed Durra Khan Road in Lyari and arrested Salman, alias Suleman Shooter.

'The held suspect is a member of a notorious gang led by Ahmed Ali Magsi,' said City SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz.
