Alam, Shahbaz in share of lead at Sindh Open.

KARACHI -- The swirling winds had made shot-making a challenge here at the Airmen Golf Club but Mohammad Alam and Shahbaz Masih kept their composure to fire rounds of three-under 69 each and move into a tie of the lead after the opening round of the Sindh Open Golf Championship on Friday.

Alam shot five birdies while Shahbaz got four and it saw them take a two-stroke lead over Mohammad Ashfaq, the only other golfer who managed to get an under-par score on the day. Bilal Khan was a shot further adrift of the lead after he returned a card of 72 to finish a shot ahead of Akber Mehroz.

There were five golfers who will begin the second round at 74; prominent among them being Shabbir Iqbal, who won last week's CNS Open Golf Championship with a rousing final-round comeback, and Shahid Javed Khan, the only professional who was able to get a birdie on the challenging par-5 18th hole.
