THIS refers to the report 'Air pollution termed greatest environmental threat to health' (Jan 15). The speakers at the conference pointed to the heightened level of air pollutants and its link to the number of deaths in millions all over the world every year, for it directly and adversely affects the human cardiovascular and respiratory system.

The people living in the urban areas are more vulnerable to the threat of this invisible killer, especially those residing in crowded and congested areas because of concentration of air pollutants resulting from pollution caused by vehicles. Our cities on plains are engulfed in smog at the moment, like every year.
