UN adopts three Pak resolutions on disarmament and arms control.

NEW YORK -- The First Committee of UN General Assembly has adopted three resolutions moved by Pakistan. The resolutions focused on regional disarmament, conventional arms control at regional and sub-regional levels as well as Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) in the regional and sub-regional context. In her comments, Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Nations UN, Maleeha Lodhi, described the approval of the resolutions by the 193-member Assembly's Disarmament Committee with big support of member states as acknowledgement of Pakistan's commitment to promote the objectives of regional and global disarmament. These resolutions, she added, represented Pakistan's contribution to furthering the goals of regional and global disarmament within the framework of the United Nations and demonstrated the country's commitment to strengthening international peace and security.
