Activists condemn child labour.

LAHORE: Child rights activists gathered at the Lahore Press Club to condemn child domestic labour and to express their resolve to hold a sustained campaign against the child abuse and other child rights violations. They urged the media and civil society for their support to create a society where children would be safe and protected.

They demanded setting up of a proper child protection system in all the four provinces, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the Islamabad capital territory with an active involvement of the communities to prevent growing violence against children, including sexual abuse.

They also showed serious concerns at the delay in the formation of national and provincial commissions on the rights of children by the government.
