Action sought against landlords for blocking irrigation water.

KOHAT -- The people of Gandiali area here have demanded action against the influential people for blocking irrigation water to their agriculture fields.

They put forward their demand at an open kutchery organised by deputy commissioner Matiullah Khan on Wednesday.

They complained that the landlords had diverted the water to their own farms, thus depriving them of the much-needed irrigation water.

The people also demanded implementation of agreements with the oil and gas company to provide employment to the local youths and initiate development projects. They pointed out that since the discovery of oil and gas reserves in the area in 2018 not a single job had been provided to the local people. The locals were also deprived of gas supply, they added.

The elders also called for establishing a girls college, provision of gas supply at the boys college and its hostel, and establishment of a dispensary. They also sought a revenue office (patwar khana), and shifting of stone crushing machine out of the...
