ACE arrests PML-N leader over land grab.

GUJRANWALA -- A team of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Friday arrested PML-N leader Muddasar Qayyum Nahra on the allegation of grabbing 267-kanal state land at Matoo Bhaike village.

Former MNA Muddasar Nahra, along with his brother Mazhar Qayyum Nahra and other accomplices, allegedly acquired 267-kanal land of the Punjab government at Matto Bhaike village in connivance with the revenue officials. The ACE retrieved the state land on the complaint of the additional deputy commissioner revenue and a case was registered against Azhar Qayyum Nahra, Muddasar Qayyum Nahra, Sultan Nahra, Shahbaz Ahmad Chattha and two patwaris on Friday.

A team comprising District Officer Mirza Zaman, the DSP Kamoki and the SHOs of Tatlayaali and Noshehra Virkan raided the residence of Muddasar Qayyum Nahra and arrested him.

Azhar Nahra said the raiding team did not show any proof of the allegation and arrested his brother.

Meanwhile, the ACE also lodged an FIR against PML-N senior leader Khurram Dastagir's father Ghulam Dastagir for illegally occupying prime land of Saddar tehsil council and provincial government.

ROAD PROJECT: The highways department has begun work on the construction of 43-kilometre long Gujranwala-Sheikhupura Road.

Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain said the construction work had started on a major public project to complete the 43-km long road at a cost of Rs6.73 billion.
