84 power pilferers nabbed.

FAISALABAD -- FESCO Intelligence teams have nabbed 84 consumers on the charge of power pilferage from various parts of FESCO region during current month (December).

FESCO Spokesman Tahir Sheikh here on Sunday said, on the direction of Ministry of Water and Power, FESCO started a vigorous campaign against electricity theft in the region.

In this connection, special intelligence teams were constituted to take strict action against the power pilferage without any discrimination.

The teams conducted surprise checking in various parts of the region and unearthed power pilferage at 84 sites during December. The FESCO also removed electricity supply meters of the accused and issued them detection bills of Rs.2,181,132/- out of which Rs.112,000/- was recovered while cases were got registered against 17 accused.

Giving more details, spokesman said 12 power pilferers were caught from Faisalabad-II Circle and they were issued detection bills of 31,508 units and imposed a fine of Rs.513,049/- out of which Rs.15,000/- was recovered so far besides getting FIRs registered against five accused.
