535 students get degrees at JSMU's third convocation.

KARACHI -- A total of 535 graduates received degrees in medicine and allied health fields at the Jinnah Sindh Medical University's third convocation.

Organisers said the university awarded gold medals to high achieving graduates in medicine, pharmacy, public health and business and healthcare management.

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, who is the chancellor of the JSMU, presided over the convocation.

He congratulated the graduates and asked them to play a key role in elevating the healthcare status in Sindh.

As the future of the three key hospitals still hangs in the balance since the federal government has not yet decided either to transfer those facilities to the Sindh government or run them requiring at least Rs26 billion per annum financial implication, JSMY Vice Chancellor Dr SM Tariq Rafi expressed concerns over the future of varsity students and faculty since the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) was its teaching hospital.
