Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Nicolae Goia hosted the Participants of the International Young Diplomats School (IYDS) on the first day of the program, in the Embassy of Romania in Islamabad. A briefing session was held on the topic of the relationship between Pakistan and Romania. The Ambassador explained that accord ing to the world's Gross Domestic Prod uct, Romania is presently a medi um-to-high income exporting economy, ranking 41 (GDP). Being a member of the European Union, Romania was a steadfast backer of Pakistan when it came to granting it the GSP Plus status, which is another reason why Romania is significant to Pakistan. This device has led to an increase in Pakistani exports to the EU of more than 30%. Regarding relations between Pakistan and Romania, the Ambassador said that since diplomatic ties were established in 1964, they have helped to bring the two countries closer together. One example is Romania's support for Pakistan in 2011 when it applied for membership in the Security Council.
