43 Immigration employees at Torkham border relieved.

TORKHAM -- As many as 43 temporary Immigration employees at Torkham border have been relieved by the government after which burden on the remaining employees has increased and a huge crowd of people is witnessed at the border. With reduction of staff, the people intending to cross Torkham border are facing difficulties and long queues of vehicles are witnessed there. The employees who have been sent home have called upon the government to restore their jobs and regularise them. Abu Bakar, who is among the employees who have been sent home, said while talking to reporter that 20 people were appointed on vacant posts in Immigration on Torkham border in June, 2015. He said some of the employees later on found permanent jobs and quit this temporary job. He said more people were appointed in 2016 through an advertisement and the number of employees reached again to 20. He said more people were appointed from time to time and the total number of employees had reached 43 recently.

Abu Bakar said the project for which they were appointed was given the name of Operational Unit in 2015. Later on, he said, the name of the project was changed and it was named Torkham Border Management System...
