417 test positive of 2,571 checked for Covid-19 in 24 hours, says CM.

KARACHI -- Chief Minister (CM ) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that coronavirus cases were on the rise in Sindh as 417 more tested positive when 2,571 people were examined for the virus during the past 24 hours.

In a statement issued from the CM House, he said the new cases were 16.2 per cent of the total tests conducted overnight.

The CM said the provincial government had tested 66,623 samples so far and diagnosed 7,882 Covid-19 cases, which were 11.83pc of the total cases across the province.

He said that seven coronavirus patients died during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 137. The death rate was 1.7pc of the total patients, he added.

Mr Shah said that at present 6,116 patients were under treatment in the province, including 4,994 kept in home isolation where doctors provided them treatment, 615 in isolation centres and 507 in different hospitals.
