200 vehicles fined over smoke emission, noise.

SWAT -- The authorities imposed fine on the owners of 200 vehicles here the other day for failing the smoke emission test, creating noise through pressure horns and silencers.

The operation was launched on the main road in Balogram area by Vehicles Emission Testing Stations (Vets) team of transport department. The team, led by Vets regional head Imtiaz Ahmed, comprised district motor vehicle examiner Hassan Bilal, mechanical engineer Noorzeb Shah and traffic wardens.

'We tested the smoke emission level of vehicles with modern technology according to national environmental standards. About 200 vehicles including rickshaws and diesel-run cars were fined,' said Imtiaz Khan.
