2,514 more test positive, 31 die of Covid-19 in Punjab.

LAHORE -- The spread of coronavirus is continuing unabated in Punjab, particularly in Lahore, as 2,514 new cases surfaced in the province on Sunday, with more than half of these in the provincial capital.

As per the figures compiled by Punjab primary and secondary healthcare department, 1,331 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported in Lahore alone by mid-day on Sunday. The number of total coronavirus-positive patients has surged to 52,601 across the province.

Punjab also recorded 31 more deaths during the past 24 hours, taking the Covid-19 total death toll to 969 deaths in the province.

The department's spokesperson says that some 338,714 tests had so far been conducted to trace the virus-positive patients and added that some 17,560 patients had so far recovered.
