18 more trucks loaded with flour, wheat impounded.

RAHIM YAR KHAN -- A joint team of food department and district police on Sunday foiled a bid to smuggle flour to Afghanistan via Balochistan and confiscated 18 trucks loaded with flour and wheat at Kot Sabzal check post at Punjab-Sindh border on national highway, some 60-kms from here.

District Food Controller Chaudhry Asghar Sahoo told Dawn that he along with District Police Officer Muntazir Mehdi during a special checking at Kot Sabzal check post seized huge quantity of flour and wheat bags from 18 trucks.

He said a total of 8,322 flour bags and 26 metric tons of wheat were seized.

Sahoo said five trucks of wheat and a flour of Waqas Fahad flour mills, two vehicles each of Al Shakoor flour mills, Dahqan flour mills, Gillani flour mills, Shadab flour mills and one truck each of Afzal Shah flour mills, Chiltan flour mills, Kohistan flour mills, Shadaab flour mills and Royal flour mills were impounded because they were transporting flour and wheat without getting permits from the food department.

He said nine FIRs No.39/20 to 47/20 have been registered against these flour mills under the Food Grains [Licencing Control] Order 1957-3,1957-6 at Kot Sabzal police station.
