16 more die, 1,103 new Covid-19 cases found: Murad.

KARACHI -- Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday said that 1,103 new Covid-19 cases were detected by testing 4,101 samples while 16 more patients died during the last 24 hours taking the death toll in the province to 396.

'Emergence of 1,103 cases against 4,101 tests is one of the highest figures and it shows 27 per cent result, therefore, we all have to ponder over why the local spread is increasing day by day,' he said.

In a statement issued from CM House, the chief minister said that the provincial government had so far conducted 167,906 tests against which 15pc or 25,309 cases were diagnosed.

He said that 16 more patients died due to coronavirus bringing the total number of deaths to 396, which constituted 1.6pc of the total patients.

Mr Shah said that 287 patients were in critical condition while 39 were put on ventilators. 'May Allah help them recover at the earliest,' he prayed.

He said at present 13,723 patients were under treatment.
