10 schoolchildren injured in Khanpur road mishap.

HARIPUR -- At least 10 schoolchildren were injured when a rickshaw carrying them to school veered off the road and crashed into a roadside tree near Khanpur here on Friday.

Police said that the tri-wheeler was carrying the children from Darra Dada Shaheed village to schools in Khanpur city. The injured students were taken to Khanpur THQ hospital where seven of them were discharged and three referred to the DHQ hospital.

Meanwhile, a married woman attempted to commit suicide by jumping into Khanpur Dam here on Friday. A boatman, however, rescued and shifted her to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Khanpur.

Police and other sources said that doctors at the hospital provided her first aid and she was discharged after restoration of her condition. The woman, 25, was later identified as wife of one Khalid of Nara village.

The police have registered a case against the woman under section 325.
