Woman, two children burnt in acid attack.

TOBA TEK SINGH -- A woman and her two children suffered burns in an acid attack on them by her former husband in Faisalabad's Afzalabad Colony on Wednesday.

According to the FIR registered by the Nishatabad police under sections 336-B and 324 of PPC on the complaint of Muhammad Wasim, his mother Yasmeen Akhtar, 45, got divorce from her husband Malik Muhammad Azam through court about six months ago and contracted marriage with Muhammad Farooq. She, along with her daughter Ayesha Bibi, 16, and son Muhammad Hasnain, 12, was at her house when the suspect came there and threw acid on them, he said.

Yasmeen was severely burnt whereas her children suffered minor injuries. They were taken to the Ghulam Muhammadabad hospital where doctors referred them to burns unit of the Allied Hospital. Doctors said the woman had suffered 70pc burns and was in a critical condition.

Regional Police Officer Ali Nasir Rizwi told reporters that police raided 11 places and finally arrested the suspect.
