Woman driver booked for trying to hit police officials.

MANSEHRA -- The police on Friday booked a woman for trying to hit a sub-inspector and other personnel with her car at a checkpost on Hazara Expressway earlier this week.

The FIR didn't name the woman, who is understood to be a resident of Baffa area in Mansehra district.

Deputy inspector general of police, Hazara Range, Qazi Jamilur Rehman told reporters that the police would take anyone, who challenged the government's writ, to the court no matter how influential he or she was.

He said the woman had issued threats to policemen and interfered with their official work.

The police booked the woman two days after she claiming to be an army officer's wife used derogatory language against the personnel and tried to knock them down as they intercepted the car and didn't allow her to cross the Barari checkpost outside a tunnel, which has yet to formally opened.

The incident caused public outcry after its video footage went viral.

CHICKEN PRICE SURGES: The chicken price reached a record high in Mansehra district on Friday.

'Chicken is sold at Rs225 per kg, the highest rate in the last 10 years, due to the district administration's failure to control prices,' resident Mohammad Ajmal told reporters.

He called for measures to chicken rate under control for the consumers' relief.

Poultry dealer Mohammad Azam feared that chicken's price would further increase due to smuggling to Afghanistan after the border reopening.
